Dr. Cleaves is a board-certified general psychiatrist. She is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS) and currently serves as the Psychiatry Clerkship Director. Dr. Cleaves graduated with distinction from the University of Virginia with a B.A. in psychology. She also earned her medical degree from University of Virginia where she served as president of the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honor Medical Society chapter. She then completed her psychiatry residency at the University of Texas Health San Antonio (a combined civilian-Air Force residency program) in 2017 where she served as chief resident. Her first duty assignment was as the Medical Director of the Mental Health Flight in the 87th Operational Medical Readiness Squadron at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey. She then came to USU as faculty in 2021. Her research interests include trauma and sleep.
