Dr. Tara Warner is an Associate Professor at the University of Alabama-Birmingham, where she serves as Director of Graduate Studies in Criminal Justice. As a sociological criminologist, her research is at the intersection of victimology, life course sociology, and health. Dr. Warner's recent research focuses on the interdependence between individuals and their physical, social, and cultural environments through specific work on protective firearm behaviors and attitudes as responses to social and cultural threats. She has designed and conducted surveys that delve into the motivations behind Americans’ decisions about owning, storing, and using firearms. Dr. Warner's research has appeared in journals in sociology and criminology, adolescence and health, and victimization.
